Tokyo Electric Power Posts Special Loss Due to Fukushima Accident Settlement

– Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings,incorporated (9501.T) reported a special loss of ¥15.60 billion for the first quarter ending June 30, 2026, related to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident compensation. The loss includes a difference of ¥15.60 billion compared to previous estimates based on the Interim Guidelines set by the Nuclear Damage Compensation Dispute Resolution Committee.

The company also disclosed that as of March 13, 2026, the cumulative amount applied for support funds from the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation was ¥8.37 trillion billion. As of the end of the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, the total accumulated amount for nuclear damage compensation expenses stood at ¥8.39 trillion billion, while the cumulative amount up to the end of fiscal year 2026 was ¥8.38 trillion billion, resulting in a net increase of ¥15.60 billion during the first quarter.

Additionally, the unapplied balance as of the end of the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 amounted to ¥19.20 billion, which includes amounts not eligible for funding. The detailed breakdown of the special loss shows that the entire amount is attributed to the nuclear damage compensation expense.
