Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group Extends and Expands Employee Incentive Plan
TOKYO, Jul 30 (Pulse News Wire) – Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group,inc. (8309.NG) decided to continue and expand its employee incentive plan (RS trust).
The group will introduce a performance-linked incentive plan targeting senior management and specialized employees meeting certain criteria. Additionally, the company will increase the funds entrusted to the trustee to purchase more shares of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings Inc. Under the expanded plan, eligible employees will receive shares based on their positions and the group's performance. Shares delivered under both plans will carry restrictions until retirement, encouraging long-term value creation.
The total amount allocated for share purchases is capped at ¥7.100 billion. The trustee is scheduled to acquire up to 1,200,000 ordinary shares through exchange-traded markets from August 7 to August 31, 2026. Following a planned stock split effective August 1, 2026, the number of shares to be acquired will cap at 4,800,000. This initiative aims to enhance engagement, promote leadership, and support sustainable growth within the group while aligning employees' interests with shareholders.
