Subaru reports Toyota owns 21.5% stake; maintains independent operations

TOKYO, Jun 08 (Pulse News Wire) – Subaru Corporation (7270.T) disclosed that Toyota Motor Corporation holds a 21.5% equity stake in the company as of March 31, 2026. Since agreeing to a business partnership in 2005, Subaru has collaborated with Toyota on projects such as the development of the TOYOTA 86/SUBARU BRZ and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Additionally, Subaru receives OEM supplies from Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Toyota. Despite the significant shareholding, Subaru asserts its independence in conducting business activities without operational constraints imposed by Toyota.

The company continues to strengthen cooperative relations aimed at sustained growth and enhanced enterprise value.
