Stemrim Secures Korean Patent for Epidermolysis Bullosa Treatment Technology SR-GT1

– StemRIM Inc. (4599.T) secured a patent for its stem cell gene therapy technology aimed at treating epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

The treatment, designated as SR-GT1, involves introducing normal VII-type collagen genes into mesenchymal stem cells derived from patients' blisters, which are then re-administered to stabilize collagen supply and potentially cure EB. This patented method leverages research conducted jointly with Osaka University, focusing on developing regenerative therapies for genetic diseases. Currently, the technology is being advanced with support from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) towards clinical trials.

The patent application number is 10-2023-7,005,854. While there will be no impact on the fiscal year ending July 2026, StemRIM commits to disclosing any significant developments promptly. --- For background, refer to the August 6, 2024 press release titled “Selection Notice for AMED Grant Challenge ‘Promotion of Regenerative Medicine, Cell Therapy, and Gene Therapy Industrialization Project’.”.
