Shindengen Electric Shinden Electric Reports Mixed First Quarter Results Amid Revenue Gains and Cost Pressures

– Shindengen Electric Manufacturing CO.,LTD. (6844.T) reported mixed results for the first quarter ending March 2027, showing revenue growth but facing challenges due to rising costs.

Sales increased across segments, driven by strong performance in two-wheeler products and contributions from acquisitions made in the previous quarter. However, higher material costs and increased labor expenses led to a decline in operating profit compared to the same period last year. In the Power Device division, sales rose thanks to expanded investments in AI-related technologies and stable demand for automotive components. Despite these gains, operating profit declined slightly due to cost pressures. In the Power Unit division, robust sales in India and Thailand offset declines in other markets, resulting in overall revenue growth.

Yet, the division's operating profit also fell due to elevated material costs and higher operational expenses. For the Power System division, reduced equipment investment by some customers caused a decrease in sales and profits. Overall, while total consolidated revenues grew, the company’s operating margin was negatively impacted, leading to lower earnings. The breakdown showed significant variations among product categories, with automotive applications accounting for nearly 68% of sales in the first quarter. Shindengen Electric highlighted continued focus on strategic acquisitions and technological advancements to drive future growth despite current challenges.

The company remains optimistic about long-term prospects, particularly in emerging markets such as India and Southeast Asia.
