Maruichi Steel Tube Posts Strong First Quarter Results Amid Rising Prices

– Maruichi Steel Tube Ltd. (5463.T) reported robust first quarter results for the fiscal year ending March 2027, achieving increased revenue and operating profit compared to the same period last year.

Revenue reached ¥197 billion, while operating profit stood at ¥168 billion. In North America, sales volume grew significantly due to rising CRU prices, leading to a nearly two-fold increase in operating profits. The company's growth division, Maruichi BA tube, saw a substantial rise in sales volumes, reaching 14.2 million units per month. However, the company maintained its full-year forecast amid risks associated with domestic coil price increases.

Maruichi’s operations in Japan also showed strong performance, driven by improved processing fees and contributions from related companies such as Alpha Metal and Toyo Special Steel. Despite challenges faced by subsidiaries like MMX in Mexico due to reduced automotive production, overall group performance remained positive. Looking ahead, the company expects continued growth in semiconductor-related demand in Asia and the United States, particularly in the second half of the fiscal year. Additionally, Maruichi plans to enhance production capacity through investments totaling approximately ¥22.00 billion aimed at increasing monthly production capabilities to around 1,500 MT.
