Oncolys Biopharma Announces Positive Results for OBP-301 Clinical Trial in Esophageal Cancer

TOKYO, Jun 30 (Pulse News Wire) – Oncolys BioPharma Inc. (4588.T) announced positive results from a phase I clinical trial combining its tumor-dissolving virus OBP-301 with chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced esophageal cancer.

The study, conducted by NRG Oncology from June 2020 to July 2024, involved 15 patients, with 14 receiving the planned treatment. The trial showed no dose-limiting toxicities and achieved a clinical complete response rate of 76.9% among the 13 evaluable cases. Two deaths occurred prior to efficacy assessment, but overall, the combination therapy demonstrated safety and effectiveness. In addition to the favorable outcomes, nine out of 15 patients survived one year post-treatment, with eight showing stable disease progression.

Based on these findings, Oncolys plans to further investigate whether this regimen can improve outcomes for esophageal cancer patients ineligible for surgery. The company will collaborate with domestic specialists to determine future development strategies in the field of esophageal cancer. The results of this trial were published in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics. There will be no impact on the company's fiscal year ending December 2026 financial statements due to this announcement.
