TOKYO, Jul 08 (Pulse News Wire) – Kyushu Electric Power Company,incorporated (9508.F) reported on July 08 that customer data stored on external memory media used by its subsidiary, Kyushu Electric Transmission Co., Ltd., was found missing since June 8, 2026. The incident was disclosed to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry upon request on June 8, 2026.
The company has compiled a detailed report on the case, including the number of affected customers and measures to prevent recurrence. It plans to notify impacted customers individually starting August 1, 2026. As of now, there is no evidence of customer data leakage.
However, should any significant impact on operations arise, the company will disclose it promptly. To prevent similar incidents, Kyushu Electric Transmission has implemented stringent measures such as prohibiting unnecessary use of external storage devices, securing physical access controls, and ensuring data encryption. Additionally, the company will conduct annual training sessions for employees and contractors on information security protocols.
Compliance checks will also be conducted annually across all departments to ensure adherence to internal regulations.
