Hokko Chemical Industry Issues Partial Correction to Benzene Leak Report

– Hokko Chemical Industry CO.,LTD. (4992.T) issued a partial correction to its previous report detailing benzene leakage from its Okayama factory.

The initial report released on July 30 contained inaccuracies which necessitated revisions. In the corrected version, the water quality survey results conducted near the coast of Yoshifu from July 16 to July 27 revealed revised levels of toluene, increasing from 23.7 to 37.3 mg/L. The concentrations of benzene ranged from 1.5 to 4.6 mg/L, while xylene levels varied between 12.1 and 22.4 mg/L.

All measurements exceeded permissible limits according to the Water Quality Control Act standards. The company stated that ongoing investigations would continue to monitor the affected areas and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The updated disclosure was posted on the company’s website for public review.
