Eisai Reports 15.6% Revenue Increase in First Quarter of Fiscal Year 2026
TOKYO, Aug 03 (Pulse News Wire) – Eisai CO.,LTD. (4523.T) reported a 15.6% increase in revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, reaching ¥2,343 billion compared to ¥2,027 billion in the same period last year.
Operating profit rose to ¥247 billion from ¥207 billion, marking a 19.2% growth. Key drivers included strong performance of cancer drugs "Lenvima," insomnia treatment "Daybevo," and "Lenkenbi." In the pharmaceutical division, sales grew across regions, particularly in Japan, America, China, and EMEA markets. Notably, the company's research and development expenses increased by 12.7%, reflecting continued investment in major projects such as "Lenkenbi," anti-MTBR tau antibody "E2608," and novel orexin receptor agonist "E2086." Currency fluctuations also impacted results, contributing to a significant boost in revenue due to the weakening yen.
Eisai highlighted the positive impact of exchange rates on overall earnings, noting sensitivity levels for various currencies. Looking ahead, the company remains optimistic about its pipeline, with several promising drug candidates advancing through clinical trials. Development programs include antifungal agent "E2699" for neglected tropical diseases and multiple compounds targeting malaria and inflammatory bowel disease.
