TOKYO, Jul 02 (Pulse News Wire) – Abc-mart,inc. (2670.T) reported a 6.6% decline in sales for June compared to the same month last year.
The decrease was attributed to fewer Sundays and cooler weather during the rainy season, which impacted customer traffic. Despite these challenges, sports apparel such as hands-free shoes and temperature-adjustable wear saw strong demand due to Father’s Day gift purchases. For the quarter ending June 30, 2026, total sales growth stood at 7.3%, driven by increases in existing store transactions and average transaction value. However, June marked a reversal with a 6.6% drop in sales, primarily due to lower footfall.
Existing stores experienced a 12.6% decline in customers, while overall customer spending per visit increased slightly. In June, three new stores opened, and two closed, resulting in a net addition of one store. The company plans to announce July sales figures on August 4. Note: Sales data for stores unable to operate throughout the month due to renovations are excluded from existing store sales calculations.
