Yamax Corp. Corp Reports Damage From Kumamoto Earthquake, Production Disrupted

TOKYO, Aug 04 (Pulse News Wire) – Yamax Corp. (5285.T) reported damage from the August 4, 2026 Kumamoto earthquake, impacting two of its factories while operations continue normally at other sites.

One employee suffered minor injuries, and equipment damage was noted at the Matsubashi and Ogawa plants, leading to production halts. Safety checks and recovery efforts are ongoing, with plans to shift production to five other facilities to ensure product delivery to customers remains unaffected. Further updates on production resumption and potential earnings impact will be disclosed as investigations progress.

At the Matsubashi Plant in Uki City, Kyushu, partial damage to exterior walls, windows, and machinery was observed, along with some inventory damage. Similarly, the Ogawa Plant also experienced window glass damage, machinery malfunctions, and inventory issues, causing disruptions to loading operations due to crane derailment. Both plants have ceased production pending safety inspections and detailed assessments.

Meanwhile, other company locations such as headquarters and branches are operating without significant disruption.
