UMC Electronics Reports Lower-than-Expected FY2026 Results Amid Chinese Market Slump
TOKYO, May 15 (Pulse News Wire) – UMC Electronics CO.,LTD. (6615.T) reported lower-than-expected fiscal year 2026 results ending March 31, 2026, compared to its previous forecast.
Revenue decreased by 2.0%, falling to 112,726 million yen from the prior estimate of ¥115.0 billion. Operating profit declined by 32.8% to 1,209 million yen, while ordinary profit dropped by 26.2% to 1,107 million yen. Net income attributable to parent shareholders fell significantly by 71.7% to 283 million yen. The company attributed the reduced performance primarily to a slowdown in demand for automotive equipment from Japanese customers in China. Additionally, adjustments made to past tax filings by its Chinese subsidiary contributed to the decline in net income.
Separately, UMC Electronics also disclosed individual earnings figures showing revenue down by 11.1% to 2,168 million yen. Operating profit saw a minor decrease, but ordinary profit plunged by 85.1% to negative 2,296 million yen due to reductions in interest and dividend receipts from subsidiaries. However, net income improved slightly to 36 million yen from 351 million yen last year, partly offsetting losses through reduced special charges. Furthermore, the company recorded extraordinary items, including dividend income of ¥4 billion ¥56 million and rental income of 34.7 billion yen from leasing properties in Kanagawa Prefecture. Conversely, operating expenses increased by 27.23 billion yen related to property rentals.
These figures are reflected in the company's interim report released today.
