Toshiba TEC Reports Strong First Quarter Profit Surge Amid Tariff Relief and Cost Optimization

– Toshiba TEC Corporation (6588.T) reported a significant increase in operating profit for the fiscal first quarter ending June 2026, reaching ¥44 billion compared to a loss of ¥21 billion in the same period last year. The boost was driven by cost optimization measures, price adjustments, and tariff refunds, which offset higher costs due to US tariffs.

Revenue surged to ¥1,489 billion, up from ¥1,214 billion year-over-year. Retail and workplace solutions segments saw robust growth, with retail operations recovering from customer investment delays caused by tariffs. Workplace solutions benefited from effective pricing strategies.

Despite positive trends, the company maintained its full-year outlook amid uncertainties related to semiconductor and crude oil costs, as well as demand visibility. For the full fiscal year, Toshiba TEC expects revenue to rise to ¥5,207 billion from ¥4,807 billion previously forecasted, with operating profit projected at ¥200 billion, unchanged from earlier estimates. The company also reaffirmed its dividend payout plans.
