TOKYO, Aug 04 (Pulse News Wire) – THE Towa Bank,ltd. (8558.T) reported a securities holding unrealized loss totaling ¥7.894 billion for the first quarter ending June 30, 2026.
This compares to a previous quarterly ordinary loss of -¥29.84 billion and a net loss attributable to parent shareholders of -¥24.50 billion for the fiscal year ended March 2026. The bank’s unrealized losses stem from bonds held-to-maturity, with a book value of ¥46.96 billion. The fair value of these holdings was assessed at ¥39.07 billion.
Despite the significant unrealized, the bank stated there would be no impact on its earnings forecast or dividend expectations for the fiscal year ending March 2027. Notably, the bank's securities had previously shown gains, with total unrealized gains of ¥103 million recorded as of the end of the first quarter. After accounting for the unrealized losses, the net unrealized gain stood at -¥7.791 billion.
