Terra Drone Selected for Defense Ministry's Early Acquisition Program
TOKYO, Jul 15 (Pulse News Wire) – Terra Drone Corporation (278A.T) announced that its proposed intercept drone was selected for testing under the Defense Ministry’s “Early Acquisition Program for Intercept Drones,” which began accepting proposals on June 05, 2026. The program aims to rapidly enhance defense capabilities against long-range explosive unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Out of 38 applicants, Terra Drone’s proposal was chosen for evaluation through tests scheduled to run from July to early August 2026. The selection process includes a rigorous three-month timeline from application to acquisition. Key performance areas such as endurance, speed, guidance systems, autonomous flight, maritime operation suitability, and anti-UAV effectiveness will be assessed during the trials.
Successful models will proceed to rapid production contracts and deliveries. This achievement underscores Terra Drone’s advanced technology validated by successful interceptions of Shahed drones in Ukraine earlier this year, along with its comprehensive support infrastructure for domestic production and training. The company plans to continue preparations for the upcoming tests and pursue subsequent mass production agreements.
While the impact on the current fiscal period remains under review, the company believes this milestone significantly contributes to expanding its defense sector operations and enhancing enterprise value.
