Sumitomo Rubber Industries Reports Strong Second Quarter Results Amid Positive Currency Impact

– Sumitomo Rubber Industries, ltd. (5110.T) reported robust second quarter results for the fiscal year ending December 2026.

Revenue reached ¥1,074 billion, up 10% compared to the same period last year. Operating profit surged to ¥423 billion, marking a significant increase of 15%. Key highlights included record-breaking sales in the tire division, driven by strong performance of the SYNCHRO WEATHER product line. Sales volumes remained stable despite favorable exchange rates contributing positively to overall earnings. The company also noted improved margins due to cost reduction initiatives and strategic pricing adjustments.

For the full fiscal year, Sumitomo Rubber forecasts revenue of ¥1,330 billion, representing a 10% increase over the previous year. However, operating profit is expected to decline slightly to ¥960 billion amid anticipated challenges in raw material costs and market conditions. Despite this, the company remains confident in achieving its long-term growth objectives through continued investment in technology and innovation. In addition, Sumitomo Rubber reaffirmed its commitment to shareholder returns, maintaining its dividend payout ratio at 40.2%. The interim dividend per share stands at ¥58, consistent with initial expectations.
