Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Adjusts Share Increase Post-Split Due to Treasury Shares Cancellation

– Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group,inc. (8316.NG) announced adjustments to the number of shares increasing due to a stock split, following the cancellation of treasury shares based on the Companies Act Article 178.

The changes were approved during the board meeting held on May 13, 2026, leading to revisions in the previously disclosed share increase figures post-split. Prior to the adjustment, the total number of outstanding shares before the split was 3,829,143,493. Following the split, the initial increase in shares was expected to be 3,829,143,493, resulting in a total of 7,658,286,986 outstanding shares and 18,000,564,000 authorized shares afterward.

However, due to the finalized cancellation of treasury shares, the revised figures now stand at 3,801,124,893 outstanding shares pre-split, with an increased number of shares post-split being adjusted to 3,801,124,893. Consequently, the total outstanding shares post-split will be 7,602,249,786, while the total authorized shares remain unchanged at 18,000,564,000. No other conditions related to the stock split have changed.
