Stella Pharma joins B-NIT clinical trial with Okayama University

TOKYO, Jul 27 (Pulse News Wire) – Stella Pharma Corporation (4888.T) announced the confirmation of research implementation structures for their new treatment concept “B-NIT” and the signing of a subcontract research agreement with Okayama University. The study focuses on Phase I clinical trials for patients with unresectable BRAF-negative advanced melanoma using Boron Neutron Immune Therapy (B-NIT).

Under the agreement, which runs from April 01, 2026 to March 31, 2027, Stella Pharma will contribute specialized knowledge on boron drugs used in BNCT, provide advice on regulatory affairs and protocol development, and collaborate on drug supply and safety data sharing. The company aims to support the establishment of groundwork for future physician-led trials through collaboration with Okayama University and related institutions.

This project, part of theAMED's Clinical Research and Trial Promotion Research Program, seeks to combine BNCT with immunotherapy to enhance therapeutic effects beyond tumor cell destruction. Melanoma, particularly in its advanced stages, poses significant challenges due to limited treatment options, especially for BRAF-negative cases where surgical intervention is difficult or impossible.
