Sojitz Posts Strong First Quarter Revenue Growth Amid Energy and Chemical Divisions Expansion
TOKYO, Jul 31 (Pulse News Wire) – Sojitz Corporation (2768.T) reported robust revenue growth for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, driven by increased transactions in energy infrastructure and chemicals. Total revenue reached ¥8,342 billion, marking a 39.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Operating profit surged to ¥1,113 billion, up 35.4%, while net income rose 47.4% to ¥32.357 billion. The company's earnings were bolstered by higher sales across various chemical products and favorable market conditions. Additionally, the consolidation of power-related subsidiaries and expansion in energy efficiency projects contributed significantly to the overall performance. Basic earnings per share stood at ¥19.1, reflecting a strong quarterly performance.
Looking ahead, Sojitz expects continued growth for the fiscal year ending March 2027, projecting total operating profits of ¥4,500 billion, pre-tax income of ¥3,200 billion, and net income of ¥2,100 billion. The outlook assumes a stable exchange rate of ¥110 to US$1. In cash flow activities, Sojitz spent ¥572 billion on operations but generated ¥935 billion through financing activities, resulting in a positive cash balance of ¥242.105 billion at the end of the quarter. The company plans to allocate resources towards strategic investments and operational improvements to sustain its momentum.
