Shionogi Reports 63.7% Revenue Increase in First Quarter

– Shionogi & CO.,LTD. (4507.T) reported a significant increase in revenue for the first quarter ending June 2026, up 63.7% year-over-year to ¥635 billion compared to ¥998 billion in the same period last year.

Operating profit surged to ¥669 billion from ¥351 billion, marking a 90.6% growth. Net income attributable to shareholders rose sharply to ¥977 billion, reflecting robust performance across domestic and overseas operations. Domestic pharmaceutical sales reached ¥335 billion, a substantial rise from ¥141 billion, while international subsidiaries and exports contributed ¥422 billion, up from ¥142 billion. Key products such as RADICAVA and HIV franchises drove strong growth, with RADICAVA alone contributing ¥242 billion.

Research and development expenses increased due to acquisitions and ongoing projects, but remained manageable at ¥318 billion. In addition to the financial highlights, Shionogi disclosed progress on several drug candidates in various stages of clinical trials targeting infectious diseases, cancer, and neurological disorders. Notably, the company's pipeline includes treatments for novel coronaviruses, influenza, and chronic conditions like Parkinson’s disease and asthma. Overall, Shionogi's diversified portfolio and strategic investments continue to drive impressive results, positioning the company well for future growth.
