– RIBOMIC Inc. (4591.T) announced the publication of clinical trial information for umedaptanib pegol, a treatment for achondroplasia, on the jRCT system managed by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

The domestic Phase III clinical trial involves pediatric patients aged two to fourteen years old and uses umedaptanib pegol, an anti-FGF2 aptamer. Further updates on the trial progress, including information related to participating medical institutions, will be posted on the jRCT website as procedures advance. RIBOMIC plans to continue advancing the trial to provide new treatment options for achondroplasia and further develop homegrown pharmaceutical products. The initial application for the clinical trial was disclosed on March 18, 2026.

According to the company, there will be no impact on the fiscal year ending March 2027 due to this development. Achondroplasia affects approximately one in 25,000 newborns and is characterized by genetic mutations in the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3). This leads to excessive signaling through the FGF pathway, hindering normal bone development and causing short-limbed dwarfism. Effective new drug development is urgently needed for this rare disease.
