TOKYO, Jul 10 (Pulse News Wire) – Pan Pacific International Holdings Corporation (7532.T) reported mixed sales results for the month of June amid challenges posed by weather conditions and seasonal factors. Domestic retail sales saw a decline due to low temperatures affecting customer traffic and reduced demand for seasonal items such as clothing.
Additionally, the impact of last year's next-generation game console releases weighed on overall performance. Despite these headwinds, strategic categories like trend products and cosmetics contributed positively to revenue. The company noted that fewer holidays compared to the previous year had a negative impact of -1.5% on domestic retail sales, while the game console effect was -0.7%. In the discount sector, seasonal goods like summer apparel and electronics experienced lower sales compared to the same period last year.
However, new product launches and collaborations boosted sales, particularly in beauty liquids, protein supplements, and novelty items like blind boxes and bath balls. The discount division also faced a reduction in sales due to fewer holidays, amounting to -1.5%, and the game console effect was -0.6%. For UNY operations, sales of casual wear and accessories lagged behind expectations, but improvements in food offerings, especially in meat, fresh fish sushi, and pre-cut vegetables, helped offset some losses. The impact of fewer holidays on UNY sales was -1.6%, and the game console effect was -0.9%.
No new store openings are planned for July.
