Nippon Steel REVISES FORECAST FOR FY27, EXPECTS IMPROVED PROFITS

– NIPPON STEEL CORPORATION (5401.F) revised its fiscal year 2027 forecast, projecting higher profits due to improved market conditions and cost management strategies. For the six months ending September 30, 2026, the company now expects revenue of ¥5.60 trillion million, operating profit of ¥260.0 billion, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥120.0 billion, representing increases of 3.7%, 18.2%, and 33.3%, respectively, compared to previous estimates.

For the full fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, the revised outlook calls for revenue of ¥11.20 trillion million, operating profit of ¥630.0 billion, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥290.0 billion, marking growth rates of 1.8%, 18.9%, and 31.8%. The revisions reflect adjustments made in light of changes in external economic conditions, particularly increased raw material costs and reduced steel exports to the Middle East, alongside positive developments such as rising US steel prices and the effectiveness of internal profitability measures.

Detailed analysis supporting these forecasts can be found in the company's recently released first quarter earnings report.
