Nippon Soda Posts Higher Revenue and Operating Profit in Q1 FY2027

– Nippon Soda CO.,LTD. (4041.T) reported higher revenue and operating profit for the first quarter ended March 2027 compared to the same period last year.

Revenue increased to ¥342.5 million from ¥326.4 million, while operating profit rose to ¥37.3 million from ¥31.6 million. The performance was driven by growth in agricultural business sales, particularly exports of pesticides such as Mospiran and fungicides like Pancho. Sales of trading and logistics products also saw an increase. However, chemical materials sales declined due to reduced sales of industrial chemicals like soda ash and water treatment agent Hyakuron.

Currency fluctuations contributed positively to earnings, with the yen weakening against major currencies. Additionally, the company recorded special losses related to costs associated with the closure of the Shimonoseki plant. For the fiscal year ending March 2027, the company maintained its previous forecast released on May 14, 2026, without changes. It plans to review its full-year forecasts during the interim results announcement scheduled for September 2026.

Looking ahead, Nippon Soda expects continued strong demand for key products like NISSO HPC and NISSO-PB, but anticipates challenges from rising raw material costs and competitive pressures in the agribusiness sector.
