Kringle Pharma starts phase III trial for acute spinal cord injury patients

TOKYO, Jul 24 (Pulse News Wire) – Kringle Pharma,inc. (4884.T) completed the registration of its phase III additional clinical trial for recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) olemerpramin alpha in patients with acute spinal cord injuries on clinical trial databases.

The trial, which aims to assess the efficacy and safety of HGF olemerpramin alpha, is now in the final preparation stage before patient enrollment begins. Spinal cord injuries affect approximately 6,000 people annually in Japan, leading to severe disabilities such as paralysis and bladder dysfunction. Current treatments offer limited recovery options, making the development of effective therapies crucial. HGF, known for its neuroprotective properties, shows promise in treating spinal cord injuries based on research conducted by Professor Emeritus Okano Shinya and others at Keio University’s Regenerative Medicine Research Center.
