Japan POST BANK Strong First Quarter Profit Boosted by Funding Income

– Japan Post Bank CO.,LTD. (7182.T) reported robust first quarter results for fiscal year 2027, driven primarily by increased funding income.

The bank's parent shareholders' net profit surged to 1,775 compared to the previous year, marking a significant increase of ¥72.70 billion. Operating revenue grew to ¥433.4 billion from ¥262.9 billion, while foreign exchange and settlement-related fees contributed significantly to the rise in service transaction profits, reaching ¥42.40 billion. In addition, the bank’s balance sheet showed strong performance, with total assets increasing to 215,101,080 million yen. Key metrics such as return on equity (ROE) improved to 7.13%, up from 4.33% in the same period last year.

The growth was attributed to higher interest rates on government bonds and increased returns from overseas investment trusts. Looking ahead, the bank remains confident in achieving its full-year guidance of ¥660.0 billion, with progress towards this target standing at 26.9%. Management highlighted continued focus on strategic investments, particularly in private equity funds and real estate debt funds, which contributed positively to both regular earnings and extraordinary gains. Overall, JAPAN POST BANK maintained a solid financial position, bolstered by stable asset management and enhanced operational efficiency.
