Genetec Changes FlexSim Sales Channel Amid Autodesk Integration

– Genetec Corporation (4492.T) announced changes to the sales channel for its FlexSim software product, effective July 23, 2026. Following the acquisition of FlexSim Software Products, Inc.

By Autodesk, Inc. in November 2023, the company decided to align with Autodesk's unified strategy. As part of this integration, starting April 2026, license sales shifted from perpetual licenses to subscription-based models. Under the new arrangement, except for government entities and local public bodies, customers will now purchase subscriptions directly from Autodesk, while Genetec will act as a sales agent providing support services.

The transition will impact Genetec’s revenue recognition method for FlexSim licenses, leading to a decrease in reported sales compared to previous transaction methods. However, the company believes the effect of this change will be relatively limited compared to the shift to subscription licensing in April 2026, which significantly altered revenue recognition patterns based on contract duration. Genetec plans to continue offering supplementary services such as implementation assistance, technical support, consulting, and training without disruption to customer support systems. The company will reassess the impact on its fiscal year ending March 2027 and disclose findings promptly upon completion of the evaluation.
