Corona Corp Launches Free Inspection and Repair Program for Eco-Cute Units
TOKYO, May 20 (Pulse News Wire) – Corona Corporation (5909.T) announced today that it will conduct free inspections and repairs for certain models of its household natural refrigerant (CO2) heat pump water heaters, known as Eco-Cute units, manufactured between April 2010 and April 2017. Approximately 240,000 units are affected due to potential compressor corrosion leading to deformation during operation.
While there have been no reports of fires or injuries, the company is taking proactive measures to ensure customer safety and restore trust. The cost of the program will be borne by the manufacturer, Denso Corporation, minimizing impact on Corona's consolidated earnings.
The company emphasized its commitment to addressing the issue comprehensively and promptly. Inspections will take place from May 20 to June 30, with limited hours thereafter.
Customers are advised to avoid approaching the units while they are operating.
