Axelspace Holdings Halts Commercial Operations of GRUS-1E Satellite Due to Technical Issues

TOKYO, Jul 27 (Pulse News Wire) – Axelspace Holdings Corporation (402A.T) announced that it would cease commercial operations of the GRUS-1E satellite due to technical issues affecting its attitude control system. The satellite, launched on March 22, 2021, experienced problems with two out of four reaction wheels used for three-axis stabilization, making stable service operation impossible.

In a statement, the company explained that despite efforts to restore functionality, the identified faults could not be resolved, leading to the decision to terminate the satellite's commercial operations. Axelspace will now proceed with the necessary procedures to conclude the satellite’s operational phase. Regarding future outlook, Axelspace noted that while the GRUS-1E was previously subject to impairment losses in the fiscal year ending May 2024, there will be no additional special loss reported due to this incident.

Four out of five satellites currently operating within the AxelGlobe constellation remain functional and continue providing image data. Consequently, the impact on the company’s performance and financial status is expected to be minor, with no changes to the forecasted consolidated earnings for the fiscal year ending May 2027, which was published on July 14, 2026. As of now, there are no alterations to the company’s plans for manufacturing and launching satellites.
