Astmax Reports First Quarter Net Loss Amid Revenue Fluctuations

– Astmax CO.,LTD. (7162.T) reported a lower net profit of ¥856 million for the first quarter ending March 2027, compared to a loss of ¥873 million in the same period last year.

Operating revenue increased by 39.2%, reaching ¥59 million due to higher electricity prices driven by tight crude oil and natural gas markets. However, operating expenses surged by 57.9%, leading to a wider lower operating profit of ¥821 million against ¥819 million previously. In renewable energy operations, the company's solar project, Kumoton Solar Power Plant, is set to undergo battery installation alongside transitioning to the FIT-to-FIP scheme. Construction of the battery system began in July 2026, with completion expected by March 2027, followed by operational commencement in June 2027.

This initiative aims to optimize power generation timing and enhance profitability through reduced curtailment risks and improved selling opportunities. Additionally, the company experienced significant fluctuations in trading-related revenues due to hedging activities. Adjustments related to derivative transactions impacted earnings recognition, resulting in a substantial downward pressure on profits. Despite these challenges, ASTMAX continues to explore multiple projects in the utility-scale battery sector, aiming to diversify its revenue streams and improve overall financial stability.
