Astellas Pharma Reports Q1 Revenue Up 15.9%, Operating Profit Down 12%
TOKYO, Aug 05 (Pulse News Wire) – Astellas Pharma Inc. (4503.T) reported a 15.9% increase in revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2027's first quarter compared to the same period last year.
Revenue reached ¥6,409 billion, up from ¥5,176 billion. However, operating profit declined by 12% to ¥899 billion from ¥1,023 billion due to higher sales expenses and increased research and development costs. In the first quarter, sales expenses rose by 35% to ¥2,151 billion, while research and development expenditures surged by 100% to ¥817 billion.
Despite these challenges, the company maintained a robust net income of ¥733 billion, down slightly from ¥846 billion in the previous year’s corresponding quarter. Additionally, Astellas highlighted regional performance, noting significant growth in international markets, which saw a 322% rise in revenue to ¥854 billion. Sales in China also improved, increasing by 26% to ¥321 billion.
The company attributed some of the positive trends to strong performances of key products such as PADCEV and XTANDI across various regions.
